About the artist
Fred Sochard is an illustrator in the world of press and publishing. His inspiration stems from outsider and popular art, stories about Indians and pirates, tales from all over the world etc. This is reflected in his numerous storybook covers for Flammarion Jeunesse, illustrations for the issue of DADA about primitive arts and books for the “Je peins” collection for Père Castor – Aborigines, Plains Indians, African masks etc. Since 2012, he has published a series of “railway worker cordels” for Les Arêtes Editions, written and drawn in the popular mindset of Brazilian cordels.
